The aim of this event is to share key lessons from the Township Economic Development Project (2020-2024) with our stakeholders, including project partners. Our four main objectives are:
1. To consolidate the core messages on the case for area-based township economic development, and roll-out of the TED approach in other areas.
2. To share learning and lessons from the implementation of the TED project in the five pilots, including insights from the implementation of 40 projects.
3.To advance TED as a developmental approach, illustrating its contribution to transformative socio-economic change.
4.To disseminate knowledge on TED, highlighting gaps that should be addressed.
Our fundamental purpose for this event is to share technical information about the TED approach, the methods that were developed, the achievements of the pilot projects, and the impact of the technical support on capability building. Focusing on learning and lessons, the engagement reflects on:
- The process of project planning.
- The scope, scale and approach to the delivery of technical support.
- The institutional environment and municipal capacity for transversal, area-based, strategy and project implementation.
- The role of collaborations and partnerships, the strengthening of municipal capabilities.
